Digital Twin Development with Nvidia Omniverse

With the inter-connectivity provided by IoT devices, as well as increased demand for computational analysis of transport within cities, there has been a growing interest in development of interactive environments. High fidelity recreations of a physical environment can facilitate simulations for training Artificial Intelligence.

Using aerial Lidar data, a physical recreation of UK’s campus is being developed. Current planned efforts include the following:

    • Training robotic dogs to deliver supplies between Chandler Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital.
    • Access city traffic data to render accurate traffic flow within the digital twin and evaluate operational inefficiencies.
    • Import various IoT devices throughout campus to provide a view of campus-wide connected systems.

There are multiple solutions with which a digital twin can be developed depending on the desired environmental detail and usage. For our purposes Nvidia’s Omniverse family of software provides a high-powered simulator through Isaac Sim.
