Medimpact Report Parser and Website

MedImpact is a pharmacy benefit management company that provides health plans to customers, employers, and government agencies. MedImpact receives many different claims for the costs of pharmacy drugs and prescriptions, however, these claims sometimes do not use the correct prices. The prices for these prescriptions change often, with calculation errors or incorrect drug prices being used. We worked with MedImpact to automate the process of verifying the accuracy of monthly prescription claims by cross-checking claim costs with updated drug prices from the National Average Drug Acquisition Cost (NADAC) and Affordable Care Act Federal Upper Limits (ACAFUL) databases. The user simply has to upload a dataset of claims to a simple web interface. After processing and comparing with updated databases, any discrepancies between paid prices and correct prices are flagged and easily viewable. Additionally, previous drug prices are checked to determine the potential cause of the discrepancy by verifying if the pharmacy used an outdated drug price. Through this interface, it is much easier and quicker to automatically flag payment discrepancies for further review.
