Improving Stroke Outcomes for Hospital Patients in Kentucky
The Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Program Grant was awarded to UK Healthcare and other partners by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to improve stroke prevention and patient outcomes in Kentucky. The project team works with hospital-reported ‘Get with the Guidelines (GWTG)’ data as well as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) data from around Kentucky to analyze stroke patient data. This data includes statistics on patient demographics, discharge outcomes, various metrics on treatment time, and more. Using these measurements reports are created for each hospital that summarizes their statistics and demographics. This allows them to compare their performance and stroke patient outcomes with similar hospitals in Kentucky. These reports are created in Tableau to create understandable visualizations and tables.
